Paper on Live music recordings accepted to Photomedia Conference

Study by Lassi A Liikkanen titled  Love through the viewfinder: Practices in contemporary snapshot photography of live music performances will be presented in March 2012 at the international Helsinki Photomedia conference,  “Digital Cameras as a Nexus in Everyday Life”, workshop. The paper will be released on the website once it has been presented!

12.12.2011 MusiQ paper accepted to CHI'12

A note by Sami Vihavainen, Sujeet Mate, Lassi A Liikkanen and Igor Curcio was accepted to CHI'12. This publication documents a field study and follow-up creation of a collaboratively created live music video from ProvinssiRock festival. This study succeeded as a collaboration of HIIT (Aalto University; Sami ja Lassi; MusiQ and Social video projects) and NRC Tampere (Sujeet and Igor) and numerous other inspired researchers appearing in the photo below:

Paper by a Musiquitous researcher Lassi Liikkanen was accepted to Musicae Scientae, one of the two music psychology journals indexed by Thomson ISI.

Music Interaction Research gets visibility at CHI'12

Musiquitous is proud to sponsor a panel at the leading human-computer interaction research conference ACM SIGCHI next spring in Austin, Texas.

 

A panel proposal under the title, "Music Interaction Research in HCI " by Lassi A Liikkanen (HIIT), Sally Jo Cunningham (University of Waikato), David McDonald (University of Washington), and J. Stephen Downie (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) was accepted for the conference.

 01.03.2011 Sounds of Helsinki receives funding from Aalto Media Factory

Aalto Media Factory granted HIIT 20k€ for development work to be done in UIx'
Musiquitous together with Adaptive computing group. The funding makes possible
of further development of Capella, a mobile music player, which logs interaction
and context data. Capella prototype will be used to research some of the
concepts of Sounds of Helsinki, a platform for location-based music services.

Field tests with users will be done in August 2011.
